Say hello to the team!

We have an experienced and exceptionally nurturing staff team, who are all committed to continuous learning and their own professional development.

We ensure that all staff have been D.B.S checked, hold in date Paediatric First Aid qualifications, are trained or at least working towards, safeguarding level 2 and NVQ level 2 in Children & Young Peoples Workforce ( or equivalent) as a minimum requirement.

Most of our team are qualified  over our minimum requirement, to at least an NVQ level 3 in Children & Young Peoples Workforce ( or equivalent) and undertake many other types of training in accordance with the needs of the cohort at the time.

Our management team hold or are working towards Early Years Teacher ( EYT) qualifications.  We also have two staff specifically trained as SENco to help work alongside children with special educational needs.

How we work with your child:

Each child is allocated a key person,  it is their role is to help settle the child into our setting, getting to know both the child and their family. The key person works with the parents/carers to plan and deliver a personalised plan for the child’s well-being, care and learning. The key person is responsible for all developmental records and for sharing information on a regular basis with the child’s parents.

Learning opportunities for staff

Our staff are continually taking part in further training to update their skill sets and keep up to date with best practice and latest regulatory requirements. We are a member of the Early Years Alliance which ensures that as a setting we keep up-to-date with early years care and education.

We attend many courses on a rolling basis such as, Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene and belong to a learning platform that provides up to date online courses to our entire staff team.

We actively encourage our staff to engage in their next level of learning and support from apprentice level at setting to degree level in early years practices.

Progress Check at Age 2

This is carried out by the child’s key person in conjunction with the parents/carers of the child when the child has reached the age of 2 years. The child’s general progress and stage of development in communication and language, physical development and personal, social and emotional development is recorded.

Staff Ratios

We comply with the staff-child ratios as set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. These requirements dictate the minimum number of adults needed to supervise children based on the number of children and their age. They also specify the minimum qualification levels required within the ratios. This is currently set as : 2 year olds = 1 adult per 4 children, 3 years and above 1 adult per 8 children.

Our Manager is over and above the ratios set in the Statutory framework.  We also have external teachers and visitors from our local community who come to our setting to enhance the experiences for our children.  This complements our ratios.
